RICHMOND, Va.; October 11, 2015 -- The third day of the North American Cup saw another top-10 finish for the Penn State women's fencing team. Senior Clarisse Luminet (Lyon, France) took sixth place in the women's foil competition this afternoon.

Luminet, a three-time All-American foilist, earned the highest placement for the Nittany Lions in today's competition.

All four Penn State women's foilists advanced past the preliminary pool. Sophomores Najiyyah Clark (Maplewood, N.J.) came in 62nd and Kasey Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) ended the day in 108th. Junior Deseree Ortega-Fergeson (Wyoming, Mich.) finished in 111th.

Freshman Anton Piskovatskov (Houston, Texas) had the best performance for the Penn State men's fencing team. Piskovatskov ended the day in 67th for the men's epee event.

Sophomore Joshua Cole (Chappaqua, N.Y.) ended the day in 71st place. Oskar Tang (Gothenbur, Sweden) tied for 90th place. Freshman Sam Freiman (The Woodlands, Texas) came in 99th, and junior Lars Swanson (Mendham, N.J.) tied for 193rd.

The numbers are deceiving, though. Despite the numerical placements, the majority of the Nittany Lions ended the day's competition in the 50th percentile.

The Nittany Lions will wrap up the four-day competition tomorrow with women's sabre.
