UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State's Big Ten Conference clash against Maryland in Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday, October 24 will kick at 3:30 p.m. The game will air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2, with the televising network to be announced after this week's games.
The Penn State-Maryland contest also will air on the Penn State Sports Network (2:00 p.m. airtime) and GoPSUsports.com. The Maryland game will mark the Nittany Lions' sixth appearance of the season on an ESPN/ABC network.
Penn State and Maryland will be meeting for the 39th time and the second time as Big Ten East Division rivals. The teams, who began playing annually starting last year, first met in 1917 and met last year for the first time since 1993. The Nittany Lion and Terrapins will be meeting in Baltimore for the fourth time (1987, 1989, 1991), but the first time in M&T Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens.
Penn State won its fifth consecutive game Saturday with a 29-7 victory over Indiana. Quarterback Christian Hackenberg accounted for all four touchdowns, throwing for 262 yards and two scores and running for two touchdowns for the first time in his career. The Nittany Lions also ran for 154 yards and totaled 420 yards. The Nittany Lion defense held the Hoosiers to 234 yards, well below their season average of 498.2 yards entering the game. Penn State recorded four sacks, one more than Indiana had allowed in its initial five games. Senior defensive end Carl Nassib recorded two sacks and forced two fumbles, taking the national lead in both categories.
The Nittany Lions visit unbeaten Ohio State Saturday at 8 p.m. for an ABC national telecast before the clash with Maryland. Coverage on the Penn State Sports Network begins at 6:30 p.m.
