ROSEMONT, Ill. - Sophomore Elizabeth Ball (Richmond, Va.) has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. This is the first Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award for Ball.
This past weekend, Ball and the Nittany Lions tallied a pair of shutout victories over Maryland (1-0) and Indiana (4-0). In the victory over the Hoosiers, Ball netted her second career goal in the 89th minute.
The Nittany Lions are slated to begin a three-game road trip Thursday, Oct. 15, at Purdue. Penn State will then head to Rutgers on Sunday, Oct. 18, and Ohio State on Oct. 24.
