Nittany Lion's Finish in the Top 10 at Pinehurst Challenge

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State women's golf team competed in the final round of the Pinehurst Challenge and finished the tournament shooting 301 plus-13 for a total tournament score of 882 plus-18. That was good enough to earn them ninth place out of the 19 teams that competed.

Newcomer Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) continued to impress as she led the team again shooting 73 plus-1 in the final round. Rogowicz finished the tournament tied for 15th in the player leaderboard with a score of 216 even par.

Another newcomer, Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) has had her fair share of success so far this season and finished second on the team with a tournament score of 222 plus-6.

Senior Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) shot a 78 to finish with a 224 plus-8, while sophomore Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland) finished right behind her shooting a 75 in the final round to end with a 225 plus-9.

Senior Kate Granahan (Allentown, Pa.) was consistent all tournament shooting a 77, 76, 77 for a total score of 230 plus-14, while the senior Grace Chung (Richmond Hill, Ontario) shot an 80 to finish 233 plus-17.

East Carolina University won the Pinehurst Challenge for the fourth time in the tournaments 19-year existence shooting 857 7-under and beat out the second place Chattanooga by six strokes.

William & Mary's Alessandra Liu set another record by shooting a 206 10-under through three rounds which was a new tournament 54-hole record.

Penn State travels back to North Carolina to compete in the four-day Landfall Tradition tournament beginning next Thursday.
