Cross Country Teams Record First, Second-Place Finishes at Penn State Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
- The Penn State men's and women's cross country teams hosted the Penn State Open at the Blue-White course Saturday morning in University Park during cross country Senior Day.

The Nittany Lion women would record a first-place finish, placing three runners in the top-10 and all five scorers inside the top-15, finishing with a score of 37.

Victoria Crawford (State College, Pa.) would lead the way, recording a third-place finish in a time of 22:37. Following Crawford was Cara Ulizio (Redondo Beach, Calif.)(4th/22:38), Megan Hellman (Rumson, N.J.)(6th/22:44), Lisa Bennatan (Lake Forest, Ill.)(11th/23:12), and Sarah Jane Underwood (Alexandria, Va.)(13th/23:17.)

On the men's side, it was senior John Dugan who led the way for Penn State - and for a majority of the race - recording a second-place finish in a time of 26:25.

Rounding out the scoring for the Nittany Lion men were Timothy McGowan (Northport, N.Y.)(5th/26:49), Conrad Lippert (Middletown, N.J.)(9th/27:25), Will Cather (Port Matilda, Pa.)(11th/27:31), and Jordan Makins (Perth, Australia)(27:32.)

Penn State will have a few weeks off before traveling to Chicago, Ill for the Big Ten cross country championships on Nov. 1.
