Nittany Lions Finish at ITA Regionals

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Penn State men's tennis team continued play at the ITA Regional Championships on Monday. Aws Laaribi (Rye, N.Y.) was the only singles player to qualify for the quarterfinals Sunday. Monday he advanced to the semifinals after winning 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.

Laaribi advanced past the quarterfinals after beating Henrik Wiersholm of UVA. Laaribi advanced from 128 singles players to eight players in the quarterfinals. He continued onto the four player semifinals.

In the semifinals, Laaribi played Joao Monteiro form Virginia Tech. Laaribi dropped his final match of the weekend 6-0, 6-1. Junior Laaribi finished his weekend 4-1.

The ITA Regional Championships included the best players in the region. Virginia Tech hosted the Championships at their Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
