Riehl Captures Big Ten Freshman of the Week Plaudits

ROSEMONT, Ill. --
For her performance against Michigan Wednesday night, Kaleigh Riehl (Fairfax Station, Va.) has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon. This is second Big Ten Freshman of the Week award for Riehl.

In Penn State's 3-1 victory over Michigan Wednesday night, Riehl clocked in for 71 minutes on the Nittany Lion backline and tallied an assist on Nickolette Driesse's (Wayne, N.J.) goal in the 36th minute.

With the win, the Nittany Lions captured a share of their 17th Big Ten title in program history. Penn State enters the Big Ten tournament as the No. 1 seed.

Riehl has started all 18 matches on the Nittany Lion backline, logging 1,576 minutes out of 1,660 minutes in the 2015 campaign. Her assist in Wednesday's match is the first point of her Nittany Lion career.

Penn State hosts Illinois in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament Sunday, Nov. 1, at Jeffrey Field live on the Big Ten Network at 3 p.m.
