Field Hockey Opens Big Ten Tournament Action on Thursday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State will play in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament as the No. 6 seed after finishing the regular season with a 4-4 conference record. The Nittany Lions will play third seeded Indiana in the first round match on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on BTN.

The entire tourney will be played at Indiana in Bloomington, Ind. Head coach Charlene Morett and the Penn State field hockey program have won more Big Ten Tournament titles than anyone else, claiming six championships in the 20 year history.

Prior to the Blue and White's game at 5:30 p.m., there will be three other first round matches in Bloomington. The No. 4 Northwestern vs. No. 5 Ohio State match will open the tourney on Thursday at 10 a.m. followed by No. 1 Maryland vs. No. 8 Michigan State at 12:30 p.m. The third game of the day will see No. 2 Michigan play No. 7 Iowa at 3:00 p.m.

The tournament's champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. BTN will provide live television coverage of the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game of the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament. Follow all the action at bigten.org and on Twitter @bigtenchamps.
