UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling program has announced the date for the 2015-16 Season Kickoff Event. The event will take place on Friday, Oct. 23, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Rec Hall's main arena.
This new season-starting night features a buffet, open practice with coach's comments and a silent auction. Jeff Byers, the voice of Penn State Wrestling, will emcee the evening's festivities. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a buffet from Hog Father's BBQ in the Rec Hall mezzanine. The evening's silent auction will also begin at that time. Attendees will then have the opportunity to watch an abbreviated team practice, with coach's comments, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The winners of silent auction items will then be announced at 7:30 with closing comments coming at 8 p.m.
Silent auction items will include (but are not limited to) an NCAA Championship travel package featuring two deluxe Madison Club Seats, four night accommodations at the Hilton Meadowland Hotel and transportation for two from State College to New York City; a signed John Capelletti football helmet; lunch with David Taylor and Jake Varner; a Penn State singlet signed by this year's Nittany Lion squad and coaching staff; and a framed print of head coach Cael Sanderson, artist's rendition, from his Olympic Gold Medal run.
With limited seating available to the general public available, fans can order tickets to the full event (general admission plus buffet) for $25 by calling the Varsity S Club at 814-867-1597. For fans who wish to forego the buffet and simply attend the silent auction/open practice, tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling the Penn State Ticket Office at 1-800-NITTANY.
