KANSAS CITY, Mo. ââ'¬" Two members of the Penn State men's fencing team competed at the North American Cup today in Kansas City, Mo. The four-day long tournament kicked off today with Penn State competing in the men's junior epee event.
Freshmen Anton Piskovatskov (Houson, Texas) and Joshua Cole (Chappaqua, N.Y.) entered competition seeded first and 24th, respectively, and advanced through pool play into direct elimination.
Piskovatskov battled hard through five rounds of direct elimination competition, but fell just short of the quarterfinal round. Piskovatskov finished the tournament in 12th place.
Cole competed through two rounds before being eliminated. Cole tied for 72nd on the day.
Penn State will continue competition in Kansas City, Mo. on Sunday, Nov. 15 with the junior men's foil and junior women's sabre events.
