SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Penn State women's hockey team played to a 1-1 tie against Syracuse in a College Hockey America matchup Saturday afternoon at the Tennity Ice Pavilion. After picking up an assist last night, Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minn.) tallied the lone goal for PSU in Saturday's game.

Syracuse (8-9-2, 5-1-2) recorded its lone goal of the night in the first period, as Jessica Sibley posted her seventh goal of the season at the 11:51 into the game. Syracuse outshot Penn State, 14-5, in the opening frame.

Then in the second period, Bowman netted her eighth goal of the season to tie the game at one for Penn State (4-10-4, 1-3-4) at 13:39 in the second period. Heading into the second intermission, Penn State and Syracuse were tied at one with Syracuse leading in shots, 27-17.

After tallying 20 saves last night for Penn State, senior Celine Whitlinger (Garden Grove, Calif.) made 40 saves Saturday afternoon for the Blue and White.

Neither team was able to find the net one more time in the third period or overtime, securing a 1-1 draw for both squads.

The Nittany Lions close out the 2015 calendar year next weekend, as they head to Princeton, N.J. for a non-conference matchup against Princeton. Penn State begins action in 2016 in Columbus, Ohio, against Ohio State, Jan. 2-3.
