UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" Penn State will send four representatives to the Boston World Cup this weekend to compete in the men's sabre competition. The tournament begins Saturday, Dec. 12 and finishes the following day, Sunday, Dec. 13.
Senior captain Kaito Streets (Redwood City, Calif.), sophomores Andrew Mackiewicz (Westwood, Mass.) and Eduardo Lara (Queretaro, Mexico), and freshman Karol Metryka (Linden, N.J.) will compete this weekend.
Metryka and Mackiewicz head into the weekend fresh off of top-10 placements at last weekend's Olympic trials. The duo placed sixth and 10th, respectively, in the Division I men's sabre competition.
Senior Nobuo Bravo (San Francisco, Calif.) also had a successful finish at the Olympic trials, coming in fifth place in the Division I men's foil event.
State College natives Ian Gregory and Julia Higson also represented Penn State at the Olympic trials. The sophomores competed in the Division II epee events. Gregory finished in 52nd in the men's competition and Higson placed 54th in the women's event.
