UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After leading the Penn State men's volleyball (1-1) defense during a 1-1 weekend at home in the PAC-12/Big Ten Challenge, redshirt senior Matt Seifert has earned his first conference weekly award of the season, being selected as the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon.
Seifert played an integral part of the Nittany Lion defense in their five set defeat to #5 UCLA as Seifert recorded seven total blocks in the match, two solo. This is Seifert's first EIVA Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2016.
Seifert and the rest of the 10th ranked Nittany Lions hit the road this week. First up, EIVA conference leader Penn State, travels to No. 3 Loyola (1-2) Thursday, January 14 at 7 p.m., before taking on No. 8 Lewis (3-1) Saturday, January 16 at 7 p.m.
