NEW HAVEN, Conn. ââ'¬" The diving group led the Penn State men's swimming and diving team Friday evening against Yale, but the Bulldogs hold a 134-52 lead through 10 events of a two-day dual meet at the Kiphuth Exhibition Pool.

All four Penn State divers scored above the first Yale diver in the 1-meter. Connor Scanlon led the quintet with a score of 306.20, and was closely followed by Hector Garcia at 301.55. Jack Crow rounded out the countable scores at 287.00, while Logan Knauss was fourth with a score of 281.20.

Yale held the edge in the swimming events though to overtake the Nittany Lions' early lead.

Tomer Zamir led the Lions with a pair of top-three finishes, placing third in the 50 freestyle in 21.15 seconds and second in the 100 backstroke in 50.33 seconds.

Newcomer Joao Pedro Cervone made a strong debut in his first meet for Penn State, placing third in the 200 freestyle in 1:40.42. He was followed by Matt Stasiunas who touched just .01 second later in 1:40.43. Andrew Schuehler and Gunther Cassell tied for third in the 100 breaststroke in 57.71.

The competition will resume Saturday at 10 a.m. with the diving events and noon for the swimming events.
