Women's Tennis Goes Undefeated in Season Opener

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa; January 15, 2016- Penn State's first match of the season resulted in a 7-0 win against St. Bonaventure. No. 47, Penn State, takes on No. 46, William & Mary, on Sunday, January 17th, 2016.

"This was a great way to start off of the season," said Jacqueline Zuhse, "It was so nice that everyone was able to get a win. I thought the team showed a really good fight and we just need to come out and kill it on Sunday"

Kim Surin (Montreal, Canada) won 6-2, 6-2, Katia Blik (Moscow, Russia) beat Gabrielle Bowe 6-1, 6-3, Devan McCluskey (Phoenix, AZ) advanced over Mariam Skhirtladaze 6-3, 6-0, Jacqueline Zuhse (Boca Raton, Fla) won against Dominique Mortier 6-2, 6-1, Samantha Tutelman (New York, NY) beat Francesca Chin 6-0, 6-1, and Dasha Sapogova (Belarus, Minsk) advanced over Lauren Doversola 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, the Nittany Lions won all three doubles matches. Devan McCluskey and Kimberly Surin won over Mara Martinez and Gabrielle Bowe 6-0, Katia Blik and Dasha Sapogova beat Lauren Doversola and Mariam Skhirtladaze 6-1, and Jacqueline Zuhse and partner Kathrine Whiteaway beat Francesca Chin and Dominique Mortier 6-0.

"Tonight our team was ready to compete from the very start," said coach Cagle, "We have been excited to get the season underway; we have been looking forward to it all week. We will use tomorrows practice to get ready for a strong William & Mary team. We look forward to Sunday."
