ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- With 1:12 elapsed in overtime, junior Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minn.) tallied her team-leading 10th goal of the season to give the Nittany Lions a 3-2 victory against College Hockey America (CHA) opponent RIT Saturday afternoon inside the Gene Polisseni Center.

Penn State (6-14-4, 2-4-4) led for the majority of the contest as RIT (5-18-1, 1-8-1) scored a goal in the second and third period to send the game to overtime.

The Nittany Lion offense opened the day with a pair of goals in the first period of action to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Shannon Yoxheimer (Jackson, Mich.) netted her third goal of the season and her seventh career against RIT just 4:27 into the contest for the 1-0 score. Freshmen Hannah England (Simi Valley, Calif.) and Victoria Samuelsson (Leksand, Sweden) recorded assists on the Yoxheimer strike. For Samuelsson, that was her eighth assist of her rookie campaign.

The Nittany Lions added to their lead on sophomore Bella Sutton 's (Shoreview, Minn.) seventh career power play goal with 2:19 left on the clock. On the Sutton goal, senior Jeanette Bateman (Greeley, Colo.) and junior Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) tallied assists. Petersen recorded her team-leading 10th assist of the season.

RIT's Jess Paton made it a one-goal game in the second period as she netted her fifth goal of the season with 4:15 gone on the scoreboard. With the clock winding down in the third period, Reagan Rust tied the game at two with her fifth goal of the season sending the contest into the extra frame of play.

Bowman sealed the win for the Blue and White off assists from Bateman and Hannah Bramm (Tampa, Fla.).

Penn State netted two power play goals in the game on seven attempts while RIT went 1-for-4 on the power play and in the game, Penn State outshot RIT, 29-17.

In net for the Nittany Lions, sophomore Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minn.) made 15 saves and a night after making 33 saves, Jetta Rackleff recorded 26 saves.

After not playing at home since early November, the Nittany Lions return home for an eight-game homestand starting Friday, Jan. 22 against Robert Morris. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
