Penn State Falls In Close Match Against William & Mary

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa; Sunday, January 17th- The Penn State women's tennis team fell to No. 46 Willam & Mary today in a closely contested match. Penn State, now 1-1, will go on to the ITA National Indoors this weekend, where they will take on No. 53 Brown.

In singles action, Katia Blik (Moscow, Russia) fell to Leeza Nemchinov 6-4, 6-2, Kim Surin (Montreal, Canada) defeated Lauren Goodman 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, Devan McCluskey (Pheonix, Ari) was defeated by Marie Faure 6-2, 7-5, Jacqueline Zuhse (Boca Raton, Fla) was defeated by Maria Groener 6-2, 7-5, Samantha Tutleman (New York, NY) fell to Julia Casselbury 4-6, 2-6, and Dasha Sapogova (Belarus, Minsk) won against Deepa Dhore 6-2, 6-0

Penn State took the point for doubles play today. Duo Devan McCluskey and Kim Surin defeated Marie Faure and Leeza Nemchinov 6-2, Katia Blik and Dasha Sapogova fell to Lauren Goodman and Maria Groener 6-2, and partners Jacqueline Zuhse and Kathrine Whiteaway won over Julia Casselbury and Deepa Dhore 6-3.

"I would like to give a lot of credit to William & Mary" said Coach Cagle "They came out a battled hard all day. Coach Fenwick and I were proud of the fight from our team and we know we will build on todays match and be better as a result"
