Fencing Heads to St. John's Invitational This Weekend

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
ââ'¬" After closing out its home series last weekend, the Penn State fencing team heads to Queens, N.Y., this Saturday to compete in the St. John's University Invitational.

Penn State will compete against five opponents throughout the day, beginning at 10 a.m. with a match-up against Harvard.

Penn State will also fence against Notre Dame, St. John's, Ohio State and Columbia.

The Nittany Lion women will have a shot at redemption against Columbia, after falling to the Lions 16-11 last weekend. The Nittany Lion men will also have the opportunity to go 2-0 against Columbia.

Competing for the men are:

Foil: Howie Chan (Walnut, Calif.), Nobuo Bravo (San Francisco, Calif.), Julian Fevry (St. Albans, N.Y.), Nicolas Graziano (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Richard Cho (Seoul, South Korea).

Epee: Patrick August (Las Vegas, Nev.), Conor Shepard (Colleyville, Texas), Joshua Cole (Chappaqua, N.Y.), Oskar Tang (Gothenburg, Sweden) and Anton Piskovatskov (Houston, Texas).

Sabre: Marcel Dolegiewicz (Park Ridge, Ill.), Andrew Mackiewicz (Westwood, Mass.), Eduardo Lara (Queretaro, Mexico), Kaito Streets (Redwood City, Calif.), Khalil Thompson (Teaneck, N.J.) and Gavin Turner (Rehoboth, Mass.)

Competing for the women are:

Foil: Clarisse Luminet (Lyon, France), Kasey Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.), Desree Ortega-Furgeson (Wyoming, Mich.), Najiyyah Clark (Maplewood, N.J.) and Christine Fanning (Wheeling, W.Va.).

Epee: Jessie Radanovich (Tollhouse, Calif.), Jessica O'Neill-Lyublinsky (North Salem, N.Y.), Anastasia Kalonji (Rennes, France), Nicolette Vigna (Thornwood, N.Y), Medora McCarthy (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) and Sarah Waller (McKinney, Texas).

Sabre: Erin McLoughlin (San Jose, Costa Rica), DeAna Oliver (Montclair, N.J.), Brianne Cavaliere (Wayne, N.J.), Kathryn Charpin (Setauket, N.Y.) and Teodora Kakhiani (Tbilisi, Georgia).
