Women's Tennis Falls To Denver

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa; January 24th, 2016 ââ'¬" The Penn State women's tennis team fell to Denver in the consolation match at the ITA Kick Off Weekend, Vanderbilt regional. Denver advanced over Penn State, 4-2. The Nittany Lions have a weekend off before heading to the Pittsburgh campus to take on Pittsburgh, Saturday, February 6th.

In singles play at the Vanderbilt regional, Kim Surin (Montreal, Canada) lost to Julia O'Loughlin 7-6(3), 6-2. Katia Blik (Moscow, Russia) lost to Maureen Slattery 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Devan McCluskey (Phoenix, Ariz) lost to Bianca Mok 6-2 , 6-3. Jacqueline Zuhse (Boca Raton, Fla.) defeated Charlotte Derbyshire 6-4, 6-3. Dasha Sapogova (Belarus, Minsk) defeated Evy Van Genechten 6-1, 6-2. Samantha Tutelman (New York, NY) did not finish against Morgan Barnhill 4-6.

In doubles action, duo Devan McCluskey and Surin lost to Julia O'loughlin and Maureen Slattery 6-4. Jacqueline Zuhse and partner Kathrine Whiteaway lost to Bianca Mok and Morgan Barnhill 6-4. Katia Blik and Dasha Sapogova took a win over Evy Van Genechten and Charlotte Drebyshire 6-2.
