WINTHROP, Mass. - Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Victoria Samuelsson (Leksand, Sweden) received College Hockey America (CHA) weekly honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Petersen was named the CHA Player of the Week and Samuelsson received CHA Rookie of the Week honors.
This past weekend, the Nittany Lions topped Robert Morris, 3-2, in overtime Friday night and both squads played to a 2-2 tie in the series finale Saturday afternoon.
In the series, Petersen tallied a team-leading four points on one goal and three assists. In Friday's 3-2 overtime win, Petersen dished out two assists and in Saturday's 2-2 tie, Petersen scored her fourth goal of the season and dished out her team-leading 13th assist of the 2015-16 season. This is the first-career CHA Player of the Week award for Petersen.
Samuelsson, a freshman, was named the CHA Rookie of the Week after tallying her ninth assist of the season on Bella Sutton's (Shoreview, Minn.) game-winning goal in overtime Friday night. This is the second CHA Rookie of the Week award for Samuelsson.
The Nittany Lions return to the ice this Friday night inside the Pegula Ice Arena against the RIT Tigers. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Friday night and 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
