Junior Olympics: Day Two Fencing Results

CLEVELAND ââ'¬" The Penn State fencing team concluded its second day of competition at the Junior Olympics, seeing three Nittany Lions compete in today's events. Two fencers saw action in the junior women's epee event, and one fencer competed in the junior men's foil event.

Junior Sarah Waller (McKinney, Texas) was the top performer for the Nittany Lions on the day. Waller made it to the fourth round of direct elimination before being ousted by 9th seed Vera Lin. Waller finished in 31st place.

Freshman Nicolette Vigna (Thornwood, N.Y.) also advanced through pool play, but fell in the third round of direct elimination. Vigna ended the competition in 36th place.

Freshman Julian Fevry (St. Albans, N.Y.) was the sole competitor for the men's team today, fencing in the junior foil event. Fevry advanced past pool play and fell in the first round of direct elimination. Fevry tied for 131st place.

The Nittany Lions will continue competition at the Junior Olympics tomorrow with the junior men's epee and junior women's foil events. The men will compete at 8 a.m. and the women will compete at 1:30 p.m.
