Team:

  • Penn State men's basketball fell short in the second half, dropping a 70-54 decision on the road at Nebraska Saturday evening.
  • The Nittany Lions trailed by one halftime, 32-31. Nebraska outscored Penn State 35-10 to start the second half before the Lions closed game on 13-2 run.
  • Brandon Taylor posted a team-high 14 points as 10 of 11 Nittany Lions to see the court logged at least two points. Jordan Dickerson finished second on the team, matching a Big Ten career-high mark with eight points.
  • Penn State out-rebounded the Huskers, 34-32, helped out by at least one rebound from all 11 Nittany Lions to see time on the court. Dickerson and Shep Garner led the way with six boards apiece. PSU slides to 8-3 on the year when out-rebounding its opponent.
  • The Nittany Lions will alternate home and away games for the next couple weeks, returning to the BJC for a matchup with No. 4 Iowa at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Series:

  • Penn State is an even 6-6 in the all-time series against Nebraska, having surrendered its first loss to the Huskers since February 20, 2014. The Nittany Lions move to 1-5 when playing on the road in Lincoln.

Brandon Taylor, senior forward

  • Taylor led the team with his 13th consecutive double-figure scoring performance of the season. Totaling 14 points he finished 5-for-9 from the field, 2-for-5 from 3-point range and 2-for-3 from the free throw line.
  • After moving into the all-time Top 20 last week, Taylor ranks 20th on Penn State's career scoring list with 1,153 points. He needs just three more points to match Ron Brown (1972-74).
  • Taylor has led the Nittany Lions in scoring 16 times this season, including in each of the last eight games.

Jordan Dickerson, senior center

  • Dickerson matched a Big Ten career-high mark with eight points, finishing 4-for-4 from the field.
  • He also finished tied for first on the team with six rebounds to match another Big Ten career-high mark. He's grabbed at least four rebounds in each of the last three games.
  • Dickerson also led the team with three blocks. He has had at least one block in each of the last three straight games, with multi-block performances in 12 outings this season. Dickerson is currently ranked third all-time on Penn State's career blocking list with 124 blocks.

Payton Banks, sophomore forward

  • Banks finished tied for third on the team with six points, including a 2-for-3 mark from behind the arc. He's tallied at least six points in each of the last seven straight games.

Sam Halle, junior guard

  • Halle made his collegiate debut, grabbing one rebound in his first outing on the court.
