Feb. 15, 2016

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State field hockey head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss has announced the signing of Kristiina Castagnola who will join the program this coming fall.

"We are very excited that Kristina has selected Penn State to continue her academic and athletic careers," said head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss. "Kristiina has helped Eastern High School win four New Jersey State Field Hockey Titles. She really displays a competitive tenacity on the field. As a back, she is a strong communicator and is quick to initiate a counterattack from the backfield. We are really looking forward to Kristina and her parents Kevin and Janna joining the Penn State Field Hockey Family"

Castagnola will join the Nittany Lions having completed a four-year career with Eastern Regional High School in Vorhees, N.J. where she was earned four letters in field hockey under coach Danyle Heilig.

A second-team all-conference selection as a sophomore, Castagnola brings experience to the program having accumulated over 70 career starts and multiple Olympic Conference, Sectional, Group IV, and TOC championships as well as winning the Unsung Hero award in 2013.

Castagnola's high school teammate Madison Morano has also signed to play at Penn State this coming fall, bringing 91 career goals and 73 career assist to the Nittany Lion program.
