UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State lacrosse is set for at least eight games to be shown live on national television during the 2016 season, as announced by the Big Ten conference this morning.
The Big Ten Network has announced that it will broadcast more than 65 games in 2016, while also providing live coverage of the 2016 Big Ten Men's and Women's Lacrosse Tournaments.
Two regular-season women's games will be shown live on Big Ten Network and BTN2Go: Saturday, April 9 at Ohio State (4 p.m.) and Thursday, April 28 (7 p.m.). The first televised game is a rematch of last year's Big Ten Tournament final, which Penn State won 13-11, while the second contest is a rematch of last year's undefeated bout that Maryland took, 13-10 to capture the Big Ten title.
This year, all five Big Ten women's lacrosse tournament games will be shown live on Big Ten Network beginning with the quarterfinals on Thursday, May 5 (Noon and 2:30 p.m.). The semifinals will air live at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. the following day with the tournament final being played on May 8 (Time TBD). Northwestern will play host to the second Big Ten Tournament in Evanston, Illinois.
The Nittany Lion men's lacrosse team will make a total of six appearances on national television. Including two showings on ESPNU, all of Penn State's Big Ten conference matchups will appear on TV during the 2016 season.
Penn State will kick off its TV slate with an appearance on ESPNU, when it welcomes Harvard to University Park Saturday, March 12 for a 10 a.m. non-conference matchup. Next up, fans can catch the Nittany Lions open the 2016 conference slate on the road at Ohio State on ESPNU Sunday, April 3 at noon.
Penn State returns home from the road for back-to-back night games on BTN. The Nittany Lions host 2015 NCAA national semifinal contenders Maryland Saturday, April 10 and Johns Hopkins Sunday, April 17 under the lights at 7 p.m. both nights.
The Nittany Lions' will make their final Big Ten conference road trip of the season Friday, April 22, traveling to Rutgers for a BTN matchup airing live at 8 p.m.
Penn State returns home to close out the regular season, hosting Michigan live on Big Ten Network Saturday, April 30 at noon.
Big Ten Network will also televise all three Big Ten Tournament games, beginning with both semifinal matchups on Thursday, May 5 at 5:30 and 8 p.m., respectively. The final will air live Saturday, May 6 at 6 p.m. Johns Hopkins will host all three Big Ten Tournament games this year in Baltimore, Maryland.
