UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team defeated Michigan State in an NCAA stroke play match, 364-368, on the Cypress Creek Course at the Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas Saturday.

The lowest two scores from either team finished in blue and white as Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) and Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) led the way shooting rounds of 68 and 71, respectively. The duo also finished as the only two players on the day to finish at or under par on the 7,200 yard, par 71 course.

The final three counting scores for the Lions helped to clinch the victory over Big Ten Match Play champion Michigan State as JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.), Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) and Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) all finished the day carding a 75.

"All our guys worked super hard out there today," Greg Nye, PSU head coach said. "Charles and Christian both had outstanding rounds which separated us from the recent Big Ten Match Play champion, Michigan State."

The Lions resume their spring season when they return to action in Tallahassee, Fla. for the Seminole Intercollegiate March 11-13.
