Round One Of Golf Is Complete At The Clover Cup

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team got their season underway today competing in the first round of the Notre Dame Clover Cup. The team shot 301 plus-13 and is tied with lone other Big Ten team Nebraska in ninth place.

The newcomer Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) opened the spring season with a solid performance, as she has done so often this year. Rogowicz shot even par on the day, totaling a team-high four birdies. She is tied for 13th in the player leaderboard.

Sophomore Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland) had an eagle on hole four (par-4), along with a birdie to put her score at 75 plus-3.

Senior Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) switched over to Penn State's individual player slot, and shot a 76 plus-4 on the day.

With Morell playing as an individual, newcomer Cara Basso (Dowingtown, Pa.) started in the lineup and shot one birdie on her way to an 81 plus-9. The last newcomer competing was Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.), who was second on the team with three birdies and totaled a score of 77 plus-5.

Senior Grace Chung (Richmond Hill, Ontario) finished with two birdies and shot a round score of 77 plus-5.

Morell will be teeing off at 8:18 a.m. tomorrow, while the rest of the team will begin teeing off at 9:30 a.m. for the second round of the Clover Cup.
