Nittany Lions Gain Some Ground In The Second Round

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in the second round of the Clover Cup and shot 305 plus-17 as a team, moving them up to the eighth spot in the standings.

Senior Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) built on her solid opening round performance by shooting a 74 plus-2 for a total tournament score of 150 plus-6. Morell has the lowest score amongst all individual players, and is tied for 24th in the player leaderboard.

Newcomers Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) and Cara Basso (Dowingtown, Pa.) led the team, both shooting 75 plus-3. Basso tied her career low round score and had four birdies on the day, while Waller pitched in with three birdies.

Newcomer Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) shot a 77 plus-5 in round two. Rogowicz has the lowest total score for the Lions at 149 plus-5 and is tied for 19th in the player leaderboard.

Senior Grace Chung (Richmond Hill, Ontario) and sophomore Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland) both have a total score of 155 plus-11 after two rounds. Chung shot a 78 plus-6 on the day, while Diez shot an 80 plus-8.

The third and final round will begin tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
