WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Nittany Lions began competition today at the NCAA Fencing Championships, seeing action from the women's fencers. After the third round of competition, Penn State is currently in seventh place.
Junior captain Jessie Radanovich (Tollhouse, Calif.) was the top performer for the Nittany Lions on the day, going 11-4 and ending today's epee event in second place. Radanovich will advance to fence in tomorrow's semifinal round.
Senior Jessica O'Neill-Lyublinsky (North Salem, N.Y.) also competed in the epee event, finishing in 20th place.
On sabre, junior Teodora Kakhiani (Tbilisi, Georgia) came in sixth place, with sophomore Kathryn Charpin (Setauket, N.Y.) finishing in 14th.
Tomorrow Radanovich will fence in the semifinal round of competition. Opening bouts begin at 9 a.m. at Brandeis University's Gosman Sports and Convocation Center.
