UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 10 Penn State men's volleyball team (14-7, 7-1) dropped a match (25-22, 23-25, 20-25, 19-25) against the No. 12 Loyola Ramblers 3-1 Saturday night in Rec Hall.
Penn State came out swinging early and often in the opening set, hitting .385 as a team and committing only two attack errors compared to Loyola's team hitting percentage of .214 and seven attack errors in set one action.
The Nittany Lions hit .320 or better as a team in three of the four sets, with a team best .400 hitting percentage in the fourth and final set.
Jalen Penrose (Cambridge, Mass.) posted a team high 12 kills on 18 attempts tied for a team high hitting percentage of .556 off the bench to earn Mike Anderson Penn State Player of the Match honors for the second time this season.
Chris Nugent (Fair Lawn, N.J.) added 11 kills for the Nittany Lions added two digs and one block for the game.
Zack Parik (Woodridge, Ill.) handed out 27 assists, while Royce Clemens (York, Pa.) finished with a game-high 12 digs.
Penn State wrapped up its 11-game home stand with tonight's game and will hit the road for the first time in over a month on Friday Apr. 1 as the Nittany Lions take on Princeton with a first whistle slated for 7:00 p.m. in Princeton, N.J.
