Five Nittany Lions Selected for U.S. U-20 Training Camp

Five members of the Penn State women's soccer program will take part in a week-long training camp with the United States U-20 Women's National Team, which begins Friday, April 1, in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. Penn State leads the 26-member roster with five representatives.

The U.S. U-20 Women's National Team continues to prep for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, which is held from Nov. 13-Dec. 3 in Papua New Guinea.

Rose Chandler (Atlanta, Ga.), Maddie Elliston (Omaha, Neb.), Ellie Jean (Coventry, Conn.), Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio) and Kaleigh Riehl (Fairfax Station, Va.) will head to Florida from April 1-8 for the week-long training camp.

The Nittany Lion quintet recently represented the Red, White and Blue on the U.S. U-20 WNT in the 2016 La Manga Tournament in La Manga, Spain, earlier this month.

For Chandler, Elliston, Ogle and Riehl, this will be their second U.S. U-20 WNT training camp of the calendar year. The quartet traveled to California for a week-long camp in early January.

The U.S. U-20 Women's National Team went 2-0-1 against U-23 teams from England, Norway and Sweden during the 2016 La Manga Tournament. The U.S. U-20 Women's National Team opened up play with a 1-1 draw against Sweden on March 2. All five Nittany Lions started in the contest.

The US responded to the 1-1 draw with a 1-0 win against England on March 4. Elliston, Ogle and Riehl started in the match, while Jean subbed in for Elliston in the 90th minute.

The U.S. U-20 Women's National Team closed out the tournament with a 2-1 win over Norway on March 6. Chandler started and played a shutout first half before subbing out at halftime. Also in the match, Jean started, while Ogle subbed in during the 76th minute.
