IOWA CITY, Iowa ââ'¬" The top-ranked Nittany Lion wrestling team flexed its muscle on Saturday evening with stellar performance in the second session of the Big Ten Championships inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Penn State will have six wrestlers competing in title matches on Sunday afternoon (4 p.m. on BTN) following a 6-1 effort in the semifinals. Nico Megaludis (125), Jimmy Gulibon (141), Zain Retherford (149), Jason Nolf (157), Bo Nickal (174) and Morgan McIntosh (197) will represent the Blue and White in the finals on Sunday.
In addition to the six Big Ten finalists, Jordan Conaway (133) and Matt McCutcheon (184) will compete in the consolation semifinals, while Geno Morelli (165) will battle in the seventh-place match.
Headlined by six pins, two technical falls and seven major decisions, the Nittany Lions tallied a 23-6 combined record during the two sessions on Saturday. Penn State notched 22.0 bonus points and will take a 27-point lead over Iowa in the team race into the final day of the tournament.
In the team race, the Nittany Lions will have six wrestlers in the finals, while second-place Iowa will have four and third-place Ohio State will have three.
