Round One Complete at the Bryan Park Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in the first round of the Bryan Park Invitational and shot a 319 plus-31 as a team and sit in 14th place.

Senior Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) led the way for the Nittany Lions hitting two birdies on her way to shooting a 78 plus-6. Newcomer Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) also chipped in two birdies and finished second on the team with a score of 79 plus-7.

Newcomers Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) and Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) both shot an 81 plus-9 and are tied for 68th in the player leaderboard.

Sophomore Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland) shot plus-3 through the front nine and finished with a score of 82 plus-10.

The tough Champions Course seems to have won the first round as not a single team finished under par. The University of Virginia leads the way after round one with a team score of 289 plus-1. The Cavaliers have an eight-stroke lead over the two second placed teams.
