UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - The Penn State men's golf team shot a second straight 15-over 299 round to finish sixth, beating 10 of the 16 teams in the field on the Scarlet Course of the Ohio State hosted Kepler Intercollegiate.

The Blue and White were paced by the duo of senior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) and sophomore Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) as both finished the tournament in the top 15. Dornes shot a team-low 73 on the day finishing in a tie for 13th with a 6-over 148. Miller coupled up his round one 73 with a 3-over 74 in round two of competition placing him in a tie for 10th place overall at 147.

Freshman Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) finished tied for 38th with 151 after a 3-over 77. Seniors Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) and Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) shot a 75 and 77, respectively. Houston finished tied for 44th one behind Huntzinger at 152 while Vartelas tied for 59th with 155.

UNLV took home the team title at 586 after a 297 on day two. Tied for second were UAB and Michigan State five strokes back and host Ohio State finished alone in fourth at 594. Maryland finished in fifth one stroke better than the Lions at 597.

A three-player playoff was needed for the individual title with UNLV's Shintaro Ban beating out Maryland's Tom Harris, and Josh Heinze from Michigan State after four added holes. The trio finished the 36-hole event with a 2-over 144.

The Lions look to defend their title at the 40th edition of the Penn State hosted Rutherford Intercollegiate next weekend April 16-17 on the White Course in University Park, Pennsylvania.
