Leap Named Big Ten Athlete of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Jumping his way to the No. 3 mark in the NCAA this season in the triple jump, Brian Leap has been named the Big Ten Men's Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

Leap, a senior from Bellwood, Pa., finished the 2016 Texas Invitational with the No. 3 mark in the nation in the triple jump posting a mark 16.27m (53'-4.50") which stands as the No. 3 mark in school history all-time. Leap set the personal best mark on his second jump of the competition with a legal wind reading of 2.0 MPH. Leap's' jump is currently No. 1 in the Big Ten.

Leap becomes the first Penn State Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week since Darrell Hill on May 13, 2015.

This is the first Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award of Leap's career

The Penn State track & field team will return to action this weekend as the team splits between the Stanford Twilight in Stanford, Calif. and Bucknell Team Challenge in Lewisburg on Apr.22nd and 23rd, respectively.
