Another Great Round Has the Nittany Lions Contending for the Title

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in the second round of the Big Ten Championship and again shot collectively a very good round score of 288, even par, to move them up two spots to fifth place, six strokes away from the first placed team Northwestern.

The Nittany Lions started on hole-10 and newcomer Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) got off to a great start going 2-under through her first nine to finish with a round score of 70 2-under. Waller has now shot a 70 in both rounds to start the tournament and is tied for sixth place in the leaderboard.

Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) finished her second round in good fashion, shooting three birdies and 2-under through the final nine holes to give her a round score of 72, even par.

Sophomore Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland) also finished her second round strong shooting 1-under through the final nine holes. Diez carded four birdies on her way to a round score of 73 plus-1. Diez is tied for 10th place on the leaderboard, making her the second Nittany Lion in the top 10 going into the final round.

Senior Grace Chung (Richmond Hill, Ontario) shot a 73 plus-1 in the second round, improving her first round score by four strokes. Chung has a tournament score of 150 plus-6.

Newcomer Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) shot three birdies in the round to finish with a score of 75 plus-3, while the senior Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) shot a 76 plus-4.

The Lions now have a tournament score of 576, even par. There was not a player on the team that did not play a good round of golf today and because of that, the team is in a great position only six strokes away from tying the leading team, Northwestern University going into the final round.

Penn State has an early start tomorrow, teeing off at 8:18 a.m. to get the final round underway.
