Basinger Invited to U.S. U-23 Camp

CHICAGO -- Defender Brittany Basinger (Purcellville, Va.), a rising redshirt junior on the Penn State women's soccer team, will take part in a week-long training camp with the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team in Charlottesville, Va., May 1-7. Basinger is one of 26 members on the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team training camp roster.

During her redshirt sophomore season, Basinger started all 27 matches on the Nittany Lion backline during the 2015 season. She opened up the year playing every minute of the first three matches, including a 0-0 tie against No. 21 Duke on Aug. 28.

She captured her first career goal in the 66th minute in No. 7 Penn State's 2-0 win at No. 2 Stanford on Sept. 11, 2015.

Basinger and the Nittany Lion backline posted 15 shutouts on the year, including eight-straight to end the 2015 season.

Basinger was a member of the U.S. U-20 WNT that won the 2014 CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) Championship.

She is one of nine members on the training camp roster who has represented the USA at an age group FIFA Women's World Cup (2014 U-20 Women's World Cup).

The U.S. U-23s are coming off a trip to Croatia in early March where they defeated the Slovenia Women's National Team, 3-0, tied the Poland U-19 WNT, 0-0, and defeated the France National "B" Team, 2-0.
