UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in the first two rounds at the River Landing Classic, shooting 303 plus-15 in the first round and 306 plus-18 in the second round. The Lions are in second place, five strokes behind Harvard University.
The Nittany Lions have two players in the top 10 in the player leaderboard. Senior Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) leads the team and is currently sitting in fourth place with a tournament score of 149 plus-5.
Newcomer Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) also sits in the top 10, as she is in eighth place heading into the final round with a tournament score of 151 plus-7.
Newcomer Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) sits just outside the top 10, as she is tied for 13th with three other players with a tournament score of 153 plus-9.
Newcomer Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) shot 77 plus-5 in the first round, and 79 plus-7 in the second round and is tied for 26th in the player leaderboard.
Sophomore Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Dublin, Ireland) shot a combined score of 161 plus-17, while Penn State's individual player, senior Grace Chung (Richmond Hill, Ontario) shot a 163 plus-19 through the first two rounds.
This is Penn State's highest standings ranking going into the final round since their first tournament of the season, the Nittany Lion Individual, which they went on to win.
The third and final round begins tomorrow with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
