UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team sits in a tie for ninth place out of 13 teams at the conclusion of the first round of the NCAA Regional Championships on the Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisconsin. The Nittany Lions are 6-over on the par-72 course and just two strokes off of seventh place.

Senior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) and freshman Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) both carded a team-high 73 in round one, sitting in a tie for 27th place overall. Dornes' day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole. Huntzinger produced one of three birdies on his final hole of the day to finish at 1-over.

Sophomore Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) led the competition through seven holes, carding a 4-under to start the day before ending the day with a 74. He is tied with senior Chris Houston in the No. 41 spot. Senior Geoff Vartelas rounds out the Penn State contingent in 75th-place with an 82 on day one.

Vartelas will be the first to tee off for the Nittany Lions in the second round Tuesday. He will begin at 8:55 a.m. CT with teammates following in 11 minutes from hole No. 10. Complete tee times, round-one results and live scoring are available from the links above.
