O'Neill Selected to USILA North-South Game Roster

May 25, 2016

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State senior Tommy O'Neill (Shamong, N.J.) has been invited to the 75th annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)-Nike North-South Division I-II All-Star Game Friday, May 27 at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa.

O'Neill closed out his career at Penn State playing in every game during the 2016 season at short stick defensive midfield. He picked up at least one ground ball in all but two games, totaling 25 on the year to finish tied for third on the team in the category. He highlighted the season with four ground balls and one caused turnover against Hobart, en route to helping Penn State to an 8-7 record and its second consecutive appearance in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals.

O'Neill is one of four Big Ten student-athletes set to compete in the game, joining Rutgers' Kris Alleyne, Zack Sikora and Scott Bieda.

The annual event, which began in 1940, features the top players who have exhausted their eligibility in the most recent season. Divisions I-II compete together, with an additional game featuring Division III men's lacrosse programs.

Penn State has had at least one student-athlete selected to the roster in 25 of the last 31 years. This year's Division I-II North team is led by head coach Keegan Wilkinson (Marist) along with assistant coaches Mike Gongas (Marist) and Ethan Fox (Marist). The South team is coached by Jon Torpey (High Point) with Mike Corrado (Villanova), Pat Tracy (High Point) and Ryan Cassidy (High Point) serving as assistant coaches.

The Division I-II game is set for 5:30 p.m. at Robb Dixon Field, with the Division III game beginning beforehand at 3 p.m.
