CHICAGO - Rising redshirt junior Brittany Basinger (Purcellville, Va.) is set to join the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team for the U-23 Women's Nordic Tournament at St. Georges Park in the United Kingdom. Basinger is one of 20 members on the U.S. U-23 WNT roster for the upcoming Nordic Tournament.
The U.S. U-23 WNT will take on U-23 women's national teams from Sweden (June 2), Norway (June 4) and England (June 7).
Basinger recently took part in a week-long training camp with the U.S. U-23 WNT earlier this month (May 1-7) in Charlottesville, Va. She was also a member of the U.S. U-20 WNT that won the 2014 CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) Championship.
As a Nittany Lion, Basinger has started and played in 50 matches on the backline. She missed the 2014 season due to an injury, but has started every match in 2013 and 2015.
During her redshirt sophomore season, Basinger started all 27 matches on the Nittany Lion backline. She opened up the year playing every minute of the first three matches, including a 0-0 draw against No. 21 Duke on Aug. 28. Basinger and the Nittany Lion backline posted 15 shutouts on the year, including eight-straight to end the 2015 season.
