UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's soccer, men's soccer and field hockey teams are set to be featured in at least eight matches on the Big Ten Network (BTN) this fall, as announced by the Big Ten Conference.
The defending NCAA Division I women's soccer national champion Penn State women's soccer team will be featured on BTN in its season-opener at Jeffrey Field Friday, Aug. 19 against West Virginia. The Nittany Lions defeated the Mountaineers, 2-0, in the 2015 NCAA Quarterfinal round to advance to their fifth College Cup.
Penn State starts its quest for its 18th Big Ten regular season title Friday, Sept. 16 when it heads to Falcon Heights, Minn., to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a 7 p.m. contest. Finally, the Nittany Lions square off with Rutgers Thursday, Oct. 13 at Jeffrey Field. The Blue and White and the Scarlet Knights met three times in 2015 with Penn State taking two victories in the postseason.
The Nittany Lion men's soccer team will be featured on BTN three times in 2016 starting with the Badgers of Wisconsin Friday, Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Jeffrey Field. Penn State holds a 16-11-3 advantage over Wisconsin after tying 2-2 in double overtime in the 2015 campaign. The Blue and White will open the month of October in Ann Arbor, Mich. when it takes on the Wolverines in a noon match up Sunday, Oct. 2.
Finally, Penn State will return to the friendly confines of Jeffrey Field for a midweek match against Akron. The Nittany Lions and the Zips will square off at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 to close outs its BTN slate.
The Penn State field hockey team will have two matches featured on the Big Ten Network. The Nittany Lions will first travel to the University of Michigan for a 1 p.m. match Sunday, Sept. 25. The Blue and White fell at the hands of the Wolverines on two occasions in 2015 including in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament.
Finally, the Nittany Lions will play a home match against the back-to-back Big Ten regular season champion Terrapins of Maryland Sunday, Oct. 16 at 4 p.m.
