ECAC Announces 2016 DI Women's Lacrosse All-Stars
DANBURY, Conn. ââ'¬" A pair of Penn State women's lacrosse student-athletes were honored as ECAC All-Stars on Monday. Madison Cyr (Westminster, Md.) landed on the first team, while Steph Lazo (Stevensville, Md.) earned a second-team nod.
Cyr added yet another honor to her long running list, which includes spots on the IWLCA All-America Second Team, IWLCA All-Region First Team, NCAA All-Championship Team and All-Big Ten Team.
Cyr capped her senior year by leading the Nittany Lions in goals (59), points (83), shots (130), ground balls (38), caused turnovers (42) and finishing second on the team in assists (24) and free-position goals (9). Cyr leaves the Blue & White as one of just 12 all-time Nittany Lions to eclipse the 200-point mark.
Lazo posted a career season that included 71 points on a Big Ten-leading 37 assists and 34 goals. Lazo earned IWLCA All-America Third Team, IWLCA All-Region First Team and All-Big Ten honors this season. In the past two seasons, Lazo has 121 points on 75 goals and 46 assists.
The Nittany Lions recently capped their 10th trip to the NCAA Semifinals and fell by a single goal to eventual national champions North Carolina on May 27. Penn State finished the season ranked fourth nationally after a 14-7 record.
