UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
- Former Penn State Field Hockey star Stephanie Hussey has been hired as an assistant field hockey coach at the University of California-Davis in Davis, Calif. as announced Monday afternoon.

"I'm very excited for Steph to enter into the coaching ranks," said Penn State field hockey head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss.

"Steph has always had great passion for field hockey, she has an outgoing personality, and I feel like this will be a great step for her to learn more about the coaching profession. I think she'll be able to bring a lot to the UC-Davis program through her experience both internationally and here at Penn State on the collegiate level. She's played a number of different positions so I think she'll be able to provide some insight in regard to positional play. We're excited to see so many young former players go into the coaching profession. We've had a lot of success with players going into coaching whether it be high school or college. I think Penn State field hockey has been successful in transitioning players from the collegiate ranks into the life of coaching."

"I think it's like really awesome to graduate from college and land your dream job," said former Nittany Lion Stephanie Hussey.

"My dream has always been to coach at the Division I level. Landing this job is getting my foot in the door and seeing where it goes, it's being able to influence student-athletes, if I can do half the job that my coaches did influencing me along my path throughout my college career than I consider that to be successful."

"I am excited to have Stephanie join our coaching staff," said UC Davis head coach Chrissy Kilroe.

"Her national and international playing experience has provided her with extensive hockey knowledge. She will be a great addition to the Aggie field hockey program."

During her senior year at Penn State Hussey scored a career-high six goals, recorded two assists and finished second on the team with 45 penalty corner attempts while starting all 19 games played.

Before she transferred to Penn State prior to the 2014 season, Hussey competed for a Syracuse squad that won a Big East Tournament title during her freshman season and a Big East regular season championship with a berth at the Final Four the following year.
