Loxsom, Harris on to 800-meter Final

EUGENE, Ore. - Three Nittany Lion athletes were in action on the second day of the 2016 Track & Field Olympic Trials with Casimir Loxsom and Penn State frosh Isaiah Harris advancing to Monday's final.

Loxsom and Harris advanced to the finals with times of 1:45.93 and 1:45.95, respectively.

A 2013 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Loxsom advanced to the final with a third-place finish in the first heat trailing only Boris Berian of New Balance who ran the quickest time of the day (1:45.72) and Erik Sowinski of Nike who edged Loxsom by 11 one-hundredths of a second running 1:45.82.

Harris, a true freshman for Penn State head coach John Gondak, ran his second career sub-1:46 800-meter race of his career finishing fourth in the opening heat right behind Loxsom to advance on time clocking 1:45.95.

Brannon Kidder of Brooks, a 2016 graduate of Penn State, finished 12th in 1:48.76

Harris and Loxsom look to become the first-ever 800-meter Olympians from Penn State when they take the track Monday night at 7:51 p.m. PT at Hayward Field.
