UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced its list of 2016 Scholar-Athletes with Penn State women's gymnastics receiving six honorees.
Mason Hosek (Pearland, Texas), Jessica Jones (Canfield, Ohio), Nicole Medvitz (Paramus, N.J.), Chanen Raygoza (Upland, Calif.), Peyton Schuller (Erie, Pa.) and Briannah Tsang (Vancouver, British Columbia) were honored by the NACGC/W Thursday.
"We are so gratified to see that the hard work these young ladies put into the school year paid off for them in such a big way," head coach Jeff Thompson said. "To have six of our fourteen student-athletes make the Dean's list and also be recognized by our coaches' association as Scholar-Athletes is an incredible accomplishment. We also had two more gymnasts come within 0.05 points of accomplishing the same achievement; but sadly, fell just a little bit short. All in all, having more than half of our team performing above a 3.45 GPA for the entire 2015-16 school year is an accomplishment with which everyone involved with our program is very proud."
Hosek and Jones are both majoring in health and human development, Medvitz is a management major, Raygoza is majoring in communication arts and science, Schuller is an engineering major and Tsang is a biobehavioral health major.
Medvitz, a rising senior, has received the all honor three years during her time as a Nittany Lion.
