UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State field hockey team will see its first action of the 2016 season on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 12 p.m. as the Nittany Lions will play an exhibition match against Kent State at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex.
The Nittany Lions, who compiled a 9-10 record and advanced to the second round of the Big Ten Tournament last year, welcome back First-Team All-Big Ten midfield/forward Aurelia Meijer, as well as 2015 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Mideast All-Region members Brooke Birosik and Skyler Fretz.
Birosik led Penn State with 25 points (11 goals, three assists) last year.
Members of the MAC Conference, Kent State posted an 11-9 overall mark in 2015 posting a 5-1 mark in conference play.
Penn State officially opens the 2016 season on Friday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m., welcoming Old Dominion to the Penn State Field Hockey Complex.
Please note for Wednesday, August 17 due to our game taking place during the regular business day: Spectator parking is available free of charge from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in Stadium West parking lot.
Please enter off of Park Avenue at the Stadium West traffic light. All other surrounding lots including the Yellow lots by Wagner, Pegula and Shields buildings as well as the Orange-F lot near East Area Locker Room will be patrolled and parking regulations enforced until 9:00 p.m. for the Yellow lots and 5:00 p.m. for the Orange lots.
