UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Gini Bramley (Elizabethtown, Pa.), Shay Cannon (Wilmington, Del.) and Kasey Morano (Hammonton, N.J.) each scored a pair of goals as Penn State cruised to a 9-1 win over the Bison Tuesday night at the Field Hockey Complex.

Penn State starts a season 6-0 for the third time in program history and the first time since 2002.

"I'm just really proud of the speed of play," said head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss".

"I was really proud of the way they came out to start this game. We were getting great pressure in the first five minutes, we were getting shots on goal, and for them to get two goals in the first five minutes, it was a great start."

The Lions got off to an early start as Bramley dribbled in to the circle from the left side of the cage and scored a goal in the first minute of gameplay.

Cannon extended the Lions lead to 2-0, then 3-0 as she was able to put two in the cage, less than 2 minutes apart. Cannon fired a shot that was initially blocked by the goalie; after recovering the deflection from the goalie, Cannon was able to put the ball in the back of the cage for her first goal. Brooke Birosik (Ickesburg, Pa.) assisted Cannon's second goal as she was able to score off Birosiks' deflection.

Before the end of the half, Carley Celkos (Berlin, N.J.) and Morano each scored goals of their own to give the Lion a 5-0 lead heading into the locker room.

In the second half, Aurelia Meijer (Hattem, Netherlands) and Birosik would both find their way to the cage for the first the time in the game; in addition, Bramley and Morano would score their second goals of the game, totaling the Lions score at 9.

Bucknell's Nicole Rupnik was the sole goal scorer for the Bison.

The Nittany Lions totaled nine of more goals for the first time since September 12, 2003, when the lions downed St. Josephs Pa. at home.

This is Penn State's 34th consecutive win versus Bucknell. The Last time Bucknell defeated Penn State was October 13, 1970 when the Bison recorded a 1-0 win over the Lions.

Penn State returns to action Friday afternoon as they open Big Ten play against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City, IA. At 3 p.m. ET. The Nittany Lions will also face Ball State the following day, Saturday September 17th in a non-conference match slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. ET
