NFHCA Poll
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - One of five undefeated teams in Division I field hockey, Penn State remained the No. 4 team in the nation in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll released Tuesday afternoon.
Penn State (8-0), along with Boston University, UConn, Duke and Syracuse, remain as the only teams in the nation with an unblemished record. The Nittany Lions are currently 8-0 for the first time since 1993 when Penn State started the season 15-0.
The first two teams remained unchanged as defending NCAA champion Syracuse nabbed the top spot with 25 first-place votes over No. 2 Duke who received 12 first-place votes.
UConn jumped two spots to check in at No. 3 in this week's poll receiving four first-place votes following a 2-1 win at then-No. 13 Old Dominion on Friday and 8-0 triumph at then-No. 14 Virginia on Sunday to improve to 7-0.
Penn State received three first-place votes in the poll to hold steady at No. 4 following three wins last week including a 4-3 come from behind win at then-No. 16 Iowa on Friday.
Penn State travels to face Northwestern and Michigan on the road this weekend. The Lion take on the Wildcats Friday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. ET, while Penn State vs. Michigan is slated to begin at 1 p.m. ET Sunday and will be broadcast on BTN.
