BUFFALO, N.Y. - After an impressive career at Penn State, Nittany Lion alum TJ Sanders was drafted by the National Lacrosse League's Buffalo Bandits in the third round of the NLL draft on Tuesday night.
Sanders, a 2016 graduate of Penn State, was taken with the 31st overall selection of the NLL draft. A native of Orillia, Ontario, Canada, Sanders becomes just the fifth Nittany Lion alum to play in the National Lacrosse League and the 32nd Penn State men's lacrosse player to play in the professional ranks.
Sander becomes the first ever Penn State draftee by the Buffalo Bandits with the selection.
Sanders list of accomplishments are long, highlighted by a 2015 USILA All-America Honorable Mention nod. Starting in 55 of 59 games played, the 2013 CAA Rookie of the year finished his career with 124 goals, 36 assists for 160 total points. His 124 career goals scored ranks second all-time in Penn State history. During his tenure at PSU he logged six game-winning goals including two in his senior season. He added 68 groundballs during his tenure at Penn State.
Sanders' list of career accolades include 2015 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention, 2014 Academic All-Big Ten, 2014 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors, 2013 All-CAA Second Team and the 2013 All-CAA Rookie Team.
