NFHCA Poll
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Currently boasting the second best record in the nation at 11-1 overall Penn State held steady as the No. 5 team in the nation in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll released Tuesday afternoon.
Penn State (11-1) is coming off a 2-0 weekend that saw the Nittany Lions post wins over conference opponent Michigan State followed by a 4-2 win over No. 11 Princeton.
UConn remained atop the polls as the No. 1 team in Division I field hockey; the Huskies remain undefeated at 11-0 on the season receiving 29 first-place votes.
Following UConn, the Duke Blue Devils (10-1) at No. 2 and the Tar Heels of North Carolina (9-2) at No. 3 swapped spots from last week's poll while both teams received nine first-place votes.
Syracuse (10-1) remained as the No. 4 team in this week's poll receiving three total first-place votes.
Penn State remains at home this Thursday vs. Ohio State before traveling to face No. 17 Wake Forest on the road.
The Lion take on the Buckeyes Thursday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. ET, while Penn State at Wake Forest is slated to begin at 12 p.m. ET Saturday in Winston-Salem, NC.
